The lineup and what to expect

MEMBERSONLY, the promoter behind the night, booked eight selectors and gave none of them top billing. The event page frames it as seven hours of continuous Afro House from some of the city’s best DJs, with Jazzuelle, Thxndoo, Euphorea, Les D, Silasadonna, Jay Jay, Malackcean and Cubic Soul splitting the deck time.

The title poses a question the dancefloor answers: deep percussion, rolling basslines and soulful vocals, with a crowd that doesn’t stop moving. Lounge seating runs alongside the floor and the venue sells the setting as a getaway without leaving Joburg, which suits a long Sunday session that stretches into the early hours of Monday.

The sound has travelled far since it took shape in South African club culture in the 1990s. It now sells out weekends in Bali and fills members’ clubs in Hong Kong, and the local calendar keeps pace, from the Amahle Afro House Festival at Defected Studio in Cape Town on 30 October to Afrobiza Music Festival at Maracana in Sandton. A Sunday session on Corlett Drive sits right in that current.

Tickets, doors and venue details

Presale tickets are R50 and sold exclusively through Howler, with a limited allocation before the price moves to R80 at the door. No sold-out status has been reported and promoter posts about the weekend have drawn quiet engagement so far, so the cheaper tier should still be there when you check. It’s capped though, and the event page warns it won’t last.

  • Platform: Howler, presale online only
  • Presale price: R50, limited allocation
  • Door price: R80
  • Age limit: strictly 18+, no under 18s

Studio 54 offers parking on site and house rules ban weapons. The refund policy and prohibited items list sit on the Howler event page for anyone who wants the fine print. Doors open at 16:00, two hours before the first set, which leaves room for sundowners before the music starts.

The night before, the same room hosts Xtended 2, a deep house edition on 24 October with Kimetsu, DJ Buhle and ANDRD that runs from deep house into Afro house territory. Tickets follow the same R50 and R80 pattern, so some regulars are eyeing a back-to-back weekend on Corlett Drive.

Anyone who likes their house music percussive and unhurried, and doesn’t mind a Sunday that runs past midnight, is who this night is built for. The one thing to do next is grab an R50 presale ticket on Howler before the limited allocation closes.
