About this event

WAV Festival returns to Cape Town on Saturday, 2 January 2027, taking over Green Point Track from 12:00 to 23:00 for its second edition. Ty Dolla $ign and KWN headline, with Mafikizolo, Lordkez, WizTheMc, Lusanda, Thando Zide and Xowie on the bill alongside DJ sets from TXC, Juls, DJ Loyd and Sir Vincent. Tickets are live on Howler, and Phase I General admission has already sold out.

Africa Creative Agency presents the festival again after a 2026 debut that brought Mariah The Scientist and Kelvin Momo to the same coastal site. The short version for planning purposes:

  • Date: Saturday, 2 January 2027, 12:00 to 23:00
  • Venue: Green Point Track, 11 Fritz Sonnenberg Rd, Green Point, Cape Town
  • Line-up: Ty Dolla $ign and KWN headline, with Mafikizolo, Lordkez, WizTheMc, Lusanda, Thando Zide and Xowie, plus DJ sets from TXC, Juls, DJ Loyd and Sir Vincent
  • Tickets: General R849 (sold out), Golden Circle R1,499, 4-for-3 group special R636.75 per person
  • Buy tickets: Howler

Ty Dolla $ign, KWN and Mafikizolo lead the Cape Town bill

Ty Dolla $ign carries the international weight, a decade-deep catalogue of R&B and hip-hop collaborations behind him. KWN co-headlines, the British singer whose stock has climbed quickly on the strength of an emotionally direct sound.

Mafikizolo’s addition landed in late October and drew the loudest reaction of any line-up news so far, with shares and replies celebrating a duo whose hits span generations of South African listeners. They slot into a local section that runs from Lordkez and WizTheMc to Lusanda, Thando Zide and Xowie, a deliberate mix of established names and emerging voices.

TXC and Juls hold down special guest DJ sets, with DJ Loyd and Sir Vincent keeping the energy moving between live shows. The broader format stays true to what WAV pitched at launch, R&B reimagined through an African lens, with fashion and culture threaded through a full summer day at the coast.

Tickets and entry

General admission opened at R849 and the Phase I allocation is gone. Golden Circle sits at R1,499 and still shows availability on Howler. The 4-for-3 special dropped the per-head price to R636.75 when buying four tickets for R2,547 in total, but it was framed as a limited-time deal running through late October, so confirm on the live page before counting on it.

  • General admission: R849, sold out
  • Golden Circle: R1,499, available
  • 4-for-3 group special: R636.75 per person, R2,547 for four tickets, limited-time
  • Purchase: Howler for Cape Town, Webtickets for Pretoria
  • Entry: 18+ with valid photo ID, gates at 12:00

It’s strictly 18+, and valid photo ID gets checked at the gate. Doors open at midday and the programme runs through to 23:00. Full details sit on wavfestival.com if you want the festival’s own framing.

Getting there and the Pretoria leg

Green Point Track sits at 11 Fritz Sonnenberg Road, a short walk from the Cape Town Stadium precinct and the Sea Point promenade. Parking around Green Point tightens fast on big event days, so rideshare or the MyCiTi bus beats driving and hunting for a bay.

The Cape Town show is day one of a double. On Sunday, 3 January, WAV makes its Pretoria debut at SunBet Arena with Ty Dolla $ign, KWN, Lordkez, Lusanda and Xowie, ticketed through Webtickets. If you’re building a New Year weekend in the Mother City, Kunye’s New Year’s Day edition at The Ostrich lands the day before, and the summer schedule stretches on to Ultra South Africa later in 2027.

R&B fans and anyone who caught the 2026 debut should pencil this one in, and Mafikizolo supporters get a rare festival-scale set from the duo. The move right now is checking Howler for Golden Circle stock before it follows General admission out the door.
