Kunye New Year’s Day Takes Over The Ostrich in Cape Town
About this event
Kunye New Year’s Day lands at The Ostrich in Cape Town on Friday 1 January 2027, running from 14:00 until 02:00 the next morning. Kabza De Small, Dlala Thukzin, Fiona Kraft and Shimza all play the Ostrich Ranch on Van Schoorsdrif Road in Philadelphia, and it’s the first full outdoor Kunye experience the series has staged in the Mother City.
Tickets are live on Howler and the early phases are gone. Phase 1 general admission at R450 and Phase 2 at R550 have sold out, leaving Phase 3 at R650 as the last general tier currently open. VIP standing from R750 is mostly gone too, so anyone set on starting 2027 here shouldn’t wait long.

The lineup and what to expect
Kabza De Small tops the bill, and his booking shows how seriously Kunye is treating this Cape Town debut. The AmaPiano heavyweight has played a Kunye afro set before, and an open ranch venue gives him room for the long journeys that club ceilings rarely allow.
Dlala Thukzin carries the high-energy end of the day. Cape Town crowds know what he does to a dancefloor, and we’ve tracked his Cabo Beach appearance all year. Fiona Kraft rounds out the announced names, with Kunye founder Shimza confirmed on the bill as well.
The setting does half the work. The Ostrich is a ranch venue under open sky north of the city, and with Cape Town sunset after 20:00 in high summer, golden hour lands right in the middle of the party. Organisers are running the “TGTHR AS ONE” theme, the community-first framing that has defined Kunye from its Johannesburg roots to its international stops.

Tickets, tiers and getting there
The full picture on Howler right now:
- General admission Phase 1: R450, sold out
- General admission Phase 2: R550, sold out
- General admission Phase 3: R650, limited availability
- VIP standing: R750 to R950, most phases sold out
- MAP: R1,000, sold out
- VIP tables: from R2,000 per table plus a minimum spend of R20,000 to R30,000, many sold out
A Phase 4 general release is listed as coming soon, so late buyers still have a route in if the current stock dries up. Buy tickets on Howler to lock in the remaining phases. The event is strictly no under-18s and fully cashless, with payments running through the Howler RFID system on site.
Getting there needs a plan. The Ostrich sits in Philadelphia about half an hour north of the CBD up the N7, so rideshare or private transport is the sensible call. Parking is available on site and VIP table guests get exclusive access, and New Year’s Day traffic out of the city can crawl, so leave a buffer before the 14:00 doors.
Fan response has centred on the novelty of a full outdoor Kunye in the Mother City and the pairing of Kabza De Small with Dlala Thukzin on one bill. The series’ socials have pushed the Cape Town energy hard since September, and the chatter is excitement rather than the ticket gripes that shadow some NYD drops. Before this one, the series stops at KUNYE | JOZI XI in Johannesburg on 7 November, and anyone impatient for the summer can catch Piano People on the Beach at Cabo Beach first.
If Afro house and AmaPiano are how you want to open 2027, this is the Cape Town event built for it. Grab a ticket on Howler while Phase 3 lasts and keep 1 January free.
