BIOGRAPHY OF NONTUTHU MUSIC GODDESS

The singer/songwriter Nontuthuzelo Mabena was born in a township called Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, she fell in love with music at an early age, musical legends such as the late Mam Brenda Fassie, Lebo Mathosa, Mam Merriam Makeba, the list is endless made her choose early in life that she wanted to be a professional singer, her maternal grandmother inspired her as well to be the best of the best.

2005 Nontuthu started working for Pick’n Pay hyper at Boksburg, they use to host Pick’n Pay Idols every year, she entered the competition and won, that’s when her singing career took off, after that she never looked back, she was appointed as the company’s ambassador performing at it’s corporate and CSR events, including performing at Barnyard theatre at Fourways and Dare to dream awards at Sun City.

In the late 2000’s she joined a group called Ndrebele Civilization, as a band had tracks for Yizo-Yizo 2 and Zone 14 session 1, the group split and Nontuthu found herself sessioning for different acts in her hometown.

2012 she was mentored for 3 months by Shota from a group called Shana before he released his debut album Afro – romantic.

2013 she attended at Born to sing academy being mentored by Phillip de Villous Nomfusi’s manager, Jazz sensationalist Hlulani Hlangwana and RJ Benjamin.

2014 Nontuthu released her first single called Ndazalwa ndinje produced by Dj Mick’s from Kalawa jazzmee you can also watch her music video on YouTube by NickycompassTv, 2015 XtetiQsoul remixed the song and released it on his debut album Fantasy, She also showcased her craft at Imexa, SA Indies week with a group called Forex, as a result she won a trip to New York and France to go and show cased her craft but she did not go, 2016 Nontuthu had an interview with Mzansi magic magazine, 2017 Nontuthu was featured by Dj Twitty all the way from Durban on a song called Andiqondi. 2018 Nontuthu started a campaign called STOP BODY SHAMING #NDAZALWA NDINJE, that talks about issues that men, women, Lgbt community, children, people living with disability go through everyday, in terms of BODY SHAMING.

Presently Nontuthu has recorded a storm of an EP with tongue-in-cheek feminist content, she communicates with her fans through her lyrics and get the message across. This voice is about to burst onto the South African musical landscape with such vigour, the anthem will be the album, Her EP is produced by the best producers in Mzansi and overseas. These beat magicians have magnified the emotion of the the EP, pulled in different directions to touch every one’s heart that comes in contact with the music.

One can call it chance, luck…….we believe it is fate that Nontuthu is the soul that it’s destiny is Music.

Love of music, artist ability, imbokodo attitude and a commitment to a career in the entertainment industry are aspects that drive Nontuthu to pursue and aim for a successful long term life in the music business.
