About this event

The Groove Room steps out of ULTRA South Africa for the first time on Saturday 26 December 2026, taking over Cabo Beach at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Kelvin Momo, DJ Kent, DBN Gogo, MÖRDA B2B DJ Zinhle and DJ Lag headline a nine-act bill running from 16:00 until 02:00. Tickets are live via Howler from R350, with tables booked separately.

Until now The Groove Room lived as a stage inside ULTRA South Africa. It has since grown its own culture, built as much on dancers, fashion and dancefloor rituals as on the music itself. Shaun Duwe, CEO of organisers Anything Goes, framed the split simply: “We realised that people weren’t only coming to The Groove Room for individual artists. They were coming for what happened when those artists and that audience came together.”

  • Date: Saturday 26 December 2026, 16:00 to 02:00
  • Venue: Cabo Beach, 12 S Arm Road, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town
  • Lineup: Kelvin Momo, DJ Kent, DBN Gogo, MÖRDA B2B DJ Zinhle, DJ Lag, Thakzin, JNR SA, International Pantsula, NOT A SHE
  • Tickets: from R350 via Howler, tables sold separately

Nine acts across Amapiano, Gqom and house

The bill reads like a map of South African dance music right now. Kelvin Momo brings the soulful, immersive end of amapiano, DJ Kent carries the lineage of the country’s house tradition, and DBN Gogo represents where contemporary amapiano is heading. DJ Lag supplies the distinctive pulse of gqom.

The set most people will circle is MÖRDA B2B DJ Zinhle, two established names in SA dance music sharing the decks for a one-off back-to-back. Thakzin, JNR SA, International Pantsula and NOT A SHE complete the nine, stretching the programme into Afro House and newer sounds coming out of the country’s club culture.

The Groove Room Cape Town Makes Standalone Debut at Cabo Beach

Production gets its own reset for the occasion. The standalone edition introduces technical production designed specifically for Cabo Beach, with sound and stage design built around the crowd rather than framing it. Expect a day-to-night arc, not a standard club night.

Tickets and entry details

General access starts at R350 through Howler, where table bookings are handled as separate purchases. Sales opened with the announcement in early October and there’s no sold-out notice yet.

The direct event page on Howler was loading inconsistently when we checked, occasionally returning a page-not-found error. If that happens, work through the main Groove Room Howler page or grab the current link from @thegrooveroomza on X.

  • Platform: Howler
  • Price: from R350 general access
  • Extras: table bookings sold separately
  • Status: on sale now, no sold-out notice

Cabo Beach on the Day of Goodwill

26 December is the Day of Goodwill public holiday, so the 16:00 start reads as a beach afternoon that rolls into a proper night session. The venue sits at 12 S Arm Road on the harbour edge of the Waterfront, the same beachfront that has run a steady stretch of electronic events this year, from Piano People on the Beach to Dlala Thukzin’s St Tropez session.

Getting there is straightforward. The Waterfront is served by rideshares, MyCiTi routes and pedestrian access, with standard parking across the precinct’s facilities. No event-specific parking plan or age limit has been published yet, so watch the official socials closer to the date.

Promotion on X has been running hard since late September, with the organisers and media pages pushing the standalone debut and its “Step in” call alongside ticket links. Fan chatter beyond that is still thin, with no sold-out warnings or complaints doing the rounds yet.

Anyone who caught The Groove Room at ULTRA and wanted more of it now has the edition built for them. Tickets are moving via Howler, and late December in Cape Town rarely leaves room for late decisions.
