The bill and what the day looks like

It’s a full outdoor park programme. Sets run from late morning into the evening under the tour theme “In My Somatekisi Era”, with food stalls and vendor areas spread around the grounds. Cooler boxes are welcome as long as they hold cans only, and refills get charged separately.

Shwi Nomthekala and Limit Nala top a bill that mixes established guitar men with newer names. Trixie and Bridgie MC give the day its female-led edge, which fits an organiser built around Thandi Mavata’s Doek On Fleek movement. The East Rand promo posts already pull that energy, with fans tagging Trixie and lobbying for their picks in the comments.

This stop sits inside a tour that’s been crossing the country all year. Durban hosts its edition on 10 October, Paarl takes over Mbekweni Rugby Stadium a week later and Harrismith follows on 31 October. The May Johannesburg edition pulled Khuzani, Thandeka Radebe and Inkosi Yamagcokama to Mary Fitzgerald Square, so the East Rand bill sits in familiar company.

Gauteng fans got a warm-up in September too, when Khuzani and Mthandeni SK headlined the Zigzag Café festival in Springs and drew a crowd from across the East Rand. Maskandi is peaking right now on streams, radio and big stages, and this park setting keeps it close to home.

Dries Niemandt Park sits on Dries Niemandt Ave on the Zuurfontein side of Kempton Park, an easy run off the R21 for anyone driving in from central Joburg or elsewhere on the East Rand. Rideshares are the safer bet if you’re planning to drink, and on-site parking looks available but is worth confirming closer to the date. The organiser also takes queries on WhatsApp at 064 935 2313.

No under 18s get in and seated capacity is limited across the whole series, with prior stops selling through fast. If you want a full day of live guitar close to home, the one move is to lock down a ticket now before the price phases climb.
