Maskandi Fest Gqeberha Takes Over Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium [Sept 27]

Maskandi Fest Gqeberha lands at 70 Prince Alfred Road in North End, the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium precinct, on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Gates open at 10:00 and the music runs until 20:00. Shwi Nomthekala heads a bill of eight confirmed acts, and tickets start at R50 through Computicket with no sell-out reported yet.

This is the Gqeberha stop on Doek On Fleek Lifestyle Events’ nationwide Maskandi Fest 2026 tour, pitched as a full-day, family-friendly celebration of the genre.

The lineup so far

Shwi Nomthekala is the drawcard, bringing the traditional Zulu guitar-and-vocal style that’s made him a fixture on maskandi bills nationwide. Nkeshemba and Menzi add serious pulling power of their own, both with strong followings in the genre.

The rest of the confirmed list reads Trixie, Amathanda Kubukwa, Joliza Bhacasoul, Prince Sotashe and Mancokoh, with organisers promising many more on the day. Joliza Bhacasoul’s inclusion has drawn the loudest cheers in the comments under the announcement, so expect a warm reception when his set comes around.

Worth noting: this is a completely fresh bill. The May Gqeberha edition of Maskandi Fest ran with names like Khuzani and Umafikizolo, so don’t assume you’ve already seen this lineup roll through town.

Tickets, parking and practical stuff

Tickets are live on Computicket now, with phased pricing that starts at R50 and steps up through Early Bird and General Access before Seated Area and VIP options. There’s no age limit listed for the Gqeberha date and all genders are welcome, unlike some other Maskandi Fest stops that carry a 16+ rule.

Parking is sold as a separate add-on, one ticket per car, and there’s no pass-out, so make it a single trip. The venue sits above the North End Lake area, a short drive from the city centre, and with a 10-hour runtime you won’t need to rush in late.

One thing fans keep asking for is more names. Requests for Feza, Limit, Mjolisi and Shenge keep appearing under the organiser’s posts, so it’s worth following Doek On Fleek’s pages in case late additions drop before the 27th.
