The lineup and what to expect
Shimza needs no introduction at home. The Tembisa-born producer has carried the Kunye banner across Europe and back, and Jozi is where the series feels most rooted. The label billed this staging as its second Johannesburg edition, which tells you how quickly the platform has grown since it started as a community project.
Francis Mercier brings the melodic, globally flavoured house sound that’s made him a fixture everywhere from Cairo rooftops to Miami poolsides. DJ Kent anchors the local side with three decades of South African house history behind him. And the “10 More” slot is where Kunye usually hides its depth, mixing established Afro-house names with rising producers from the label’s circle. Fans have already been debating who fills those slots, and a fair few want a B2B between the headliners given how earlier editions landed.
Format-wise, expect the full-day outdoor setup Kunye runs: a main stage on the golf course grounds, sets building from easy afternoon grooves into peak-time Afro house as the sun drops over Linksfield. It sits on a Johannesburg spring calendar that also holds the Scorpion Kings at FNB Stadium and Spring Fiesta in Boksburg, but the programming here stays firmly on the Afro house tip.

Entry is strictly over 18, so bring your ID. Organisers ask everyone to use e-hailing rather than driving, though Huddle Park does have parking off Club Street. Cooler boxes, camp chairs, weapons and illegal substances are all prohibited. Buying a ticket also means you consent to being photographed and filmed for Kunye’s promotional use.

The announcement dropped in July and the first phase cleared almost immediately. Previous editions have pulled crowds in the five-figure range, and the label’s channels have kept pushing tickets hard since. What little chatter remains centres on lineup additions rather than complaints, which says something about how the series has been run.
