“Empire” is the latest news from South Africa duo Mr Luu & MSK.
“Lungs Rululu,” better known as Luu and his childhood friend Mpumelelo Mbatyoti also known as MSK grew up in Zwide Port Elizabeth Eastern Cape, alongside Heavy K, Q Base and Dj Tea, these talented youngsters formed the Point 5 group.
Point 5 have already released an album under Kalawa Jazzme Dance, the album titled First Point released in 2012 has hits like “Tell Me” and “Intoyam (feat. Big Nuz & Tira)”. Point 5 also produced the great hit song “Slow” for Professor with Speedy (of Bongomafin), a song that became the number one dance song from South Africa in 2011 and broke records on media platforms like iTunes.
In 2012, Point 5 became the youngest group in South Africa to have been authorized to remix the legendary song of “Busi Mhlongo” titled “Izizwe”, which became the best House / Dance remix from Busi Mhlongo until the date.
In their recent work Mr Luu and MSK continue to entertain with proper House music , drums is their signature (but we all know a song cannot live alone on drums) , from the days of Point 5 drums is what has defined their music. When performing Live Mr Luu will always be found on the percussions drumming like his life depends on it , MSK the orchestra will be on the ones and twos , deciding which way he wants the crowd to move their waist.
Maturity in their music can be heard in their first single under their new company Drum Freak Empire , Titled 888 , the two track single features the hit “888” , now this track is a blend of high tempo drums and a very jazzy acoustic guitar. “Conversation” is a beautiful dance track with some proper sampling and respectful name calling. The track belongs on the dance floor but it has done its fair share of trending on social media , with people wanting to be part of the “Conversation”.
888 is now number one on YFM Hot99 chart for two weeks running , Mr Luu and MSK are talented and their class is evident.
